It’s time for more Tier 2 Dota action, with a brand new tournament giving teams just below the elite level a chance to shine! 1win Essence I brings together 14 teams, mostly below the usual level we see at large events, and gives them a chance to win the lion’s share of the $100,000 prize pool!
Here’s everything you need to know about 1win Essence I.
Dota 2 1win Essence I Schedule & Format
1win Essence I is set to take place over a week and a half, running from 02 to 11 May. The event is split into three stages:
- Group stage: 02 to 06 May
- Decider: 07 May
- Playoffs: 08 to 11 May
The group stage starts with 10 teams, split into two groups of five, played in a round robin format. Four from each group will advance to the playoffs, and one will be eliminated. The top four teams of each group will also play in the decider stage, which decides seeding for the playoffs.
Teams advancing from the group stage will join four elite Dota 2 teams already in the playoffs (Aurora, Tundra, Parivision, Team Yandex), who are invited and add a challenge for the tier 2 teams that are battling it out in the group stage. These playoffs are a simple double elimination bracket – once a team loses two series they are eliminated, and the last one standing claims the trophy.
