Heroic Leaves Dota 2, Roster to Stay Together

Some unfortunate news has hit the Dota 2 world as a global contender and the best South American squad is now without a team, as Heroic leaves Dota 2.

Here’s everything we know.

Heroic Leaves Dota 2

Announced on Heroic’s socials on 04 May, the Norwegian organisation has confirmed its departure from Dota 2. The news comes as a shock, as the team has been doing quite well. They finished 5th-6th at The International 2025 and won the following event, FISSURE Universe: Episode 7, with both results making history for South American Dota 2.

The squad has had a rough 2026 so far, with mainly early playoff exits at events like BLAST Slam VI and PGL Wallachia Season 7, but even then, they’ve shown some good form and end up eliminated by top teams like Liquid and Yandex, both of whom went on to win the events.

With such results, and confirmation from Heroic’s Chief Gaming Officer Robin Nymann, it’s clear performance wasn’t an issue. The reason for Heroic’s departure from Dota 2 is “financial.” Nymann states that Dota 2 is “a tough game to commercialise” and as such, Heroic has had to drop their roster.

The roster does plan to stay together and will be competing at the next two Tier 1 events, DreamLeague Season 29 and BLAST Slam VII.
