PlayTime Signs South American Rejects

While news of Heroic leaving Dota 2  was a major setback for the South American scene, it’s not all doom and gloom! The other top tier South American squad, South American Rejects, have been picked up by PlayTime.

PlayTime Picks Up South American Rejects Roster

After a brief stint with Pain Gaming, the South American Rejects roster was without an organization, despite strong showings in Tier 1 competition and a roster full of some of the biggest names in SA Dota. Headlined by Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera and Elvis “Scofield” Peña, the Peruvian squad entered PGL Wallachia Season 8 and DreamLeague Division 2 Season 4 without an organization.

However, their time without a team to represent didn’t last long, as after an impressive 5th-6th finish at Wallachia and a victory at DreamLeague, the roster has been picked up by PlayTime! Some additional good news, for the scene as a whole, is that PlayTime have confirmed in their announcement of the roster that the team has signed a “multi-year contract” with PlayTime committing to “building a long-term competitive Dota 2 program”.

PlayTime is now:

  • Máximo “Wits” Orozco Alza
  • Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera
  • Frank “Frank” Ayala
  • Elvis “Scofield” Peña
  • Yelsthin “Elmisho” Hurtado
  • Juan “Vintage” Angulo (coach)

Who Are PlayTime?

PlayTime is a Filipino entertainment company with a focus on media, sports, and entertainment platforms. However, the core of their company is gambling, with PlayTime providing gambling and casino services throughout the Philippines.

With that said, this isn’t their first venture into esports. They previously had a Dota 2 roster, focused around South East Asian talent and headlined by the legendary Carlo “Kuku” Palad. This roster, however, fell short of qualifying for international competitions and, despite only coming together in January 2026, has made way for the South American Rejects squad.
